To influence students in order to make them interest in mathematics, so according to (Ebbut and Straker, 1995) the teachers thought it’s not good to using definition of mathematics aksiomatis for school. The truth about mathematics for school by the teacher are:
• Mathematics is about pattern and relation activity
Giving chance for student to find and examine the pattern and to decide the relation.
Giving chance to the student to do the experiment with any kind of ways.
To urge the student to find the sequence, difference, comparison, grouping, etc.
To urge the student make the conclusion.
Help the student understanding and finding the relation between two definitions even more.
• Mathematics is a creativity that needs imagination, intuition, and discovery
To urge the initiative and give any chance to think in different way.
To urge curiosity, willing to ask, ability to oppose and estimate.
Appreciate the discovery that out of estimate as something which has benefit than consider it as fault.
To urge the student finding mathematics structure and design.
To urge the student to appreciate the discovery belongs to other.
To urge the student in reflective thinking.
It is not suggested to use a certain method.
• Mathematics is problem solving activity
Serve an environment to study mathematics that stimulates appearing of mathematics problem.
Help the student to solve mathematics problem by using their own way.
Help the student to know the information that needed to solve mathematics problem.
To urge the student to think logical, consistent, systematic, and to improve documentation/note system.
To improve ability and skill to solve the problem.
To help the student knowing how and when to use any kind of audio visual aids / mathematics education media, like: compasses, calculator, etc.
• Mathematics is communication instrument
To urge the student to know mathematics characteristics.
To urge the student to make the example of mathematics characteristics.
To urge the student to explain mathematics characteristics.
To urge the student to give reason why they need mathematics activity.
To urge the student to talk about mathematics problem.
To urge the student read and write mathematics.
To appreciate mother language for student in talking mathematics.
